Ahead of the week of action against vivisection in universities, we are in a position to release more up-to-date information regarding the University of Salford, who were previously thought to be conducting animal experimentation due to all information available at the time.
We are now able to confirm that following the recent demolition of the University of Salford animal house, located in the Lankester Building, it has not been replaced and as a result the UoS have ended all conduction of experiments on animals.
As a result, local campaigners will be focusing their efforts entirely on the University of Manchester next week. This is another prime example of smaller universities closing down their animal labs and moving to alternative and more accurate methods of scientific study and we entirely welcome the decision.
